Homer postulated around 850 B.C. that no being is as vain as man. Today, self-portraits are simply staged "by oneself" with a smartphone, in seconds, all over the world, billions of times over. Insights and outings included.
Igor Navrotskyi returns with his painting to the classic, painted portraits and self-portraits of the old masters and enriches them with highly critical, sometimes satirical, zeitgeist statements, which he presents to us in tidbits in his selfies and portraits.
He lets tradition and modernity merge unmistakably. Like the old masters, Navrotskyi works with many layers of color, creating a unique impression of depth, transparency and plasticity. Navrotskyi studied at the National Academy of Fine Arts and Architecture in Kiev.
An "emerging artist" with enormous potential!
